Two months after the announcement of Michigan Teacher of the Year for the 2021-2022 school year, I still can still hardly process what has happened. I am not sure it will ever feel real to me, and I am not sure I ever want it to. Teaching is a true collaborative profession. It is a profession of relationships, community, and creative thinking. It is my privilege as Michigan Teacher of the Year to advocate for the needs of all learners, and represent the over 86,000 teachers across the state. I am ready to put my whole heart into this role.
